Surrounding Prague Castle you find many beautiful noble residences including the Sternberg Palace built in the late 1600s. It was sold to the Society of Patriotic Friends of the Arts in 1811 and used for a variety of purposes since then. It has been a mental asylum and used by the army during WWII. The Prague National Gallery currently uses it for exhibitions.
